Moonsick Menstrual Cups

Software/Materials: Scratchboard, Illustrator, Photoshop

Moonsick Menstrual Cups is a fictitious company with branding that reimagines advertising related to menstrual products. Feminine product aisles in stores are saturated with packaging that emphasizes discretion and doesn’t acknowledge the realities of having a period, which is unappealing and unrelatable for younger generations especially. The packaging for Moonsick Menstrual Cups, stylistically inspired by German Expressionism, is rough and bold yet humorous, empathizing with the customer rather than alienating them. The original illustrations for the wordmark, hands, and moon were created using scratchboard in order to capture the same angularity and sharpness, and simultaneously organicism, of German Expressionist woodcuts.
